We married very young and made some mistakes we didn't know how to correct. We lost touch with each other, and eventually it was too late to salvage anything.
I've learned that, to earn respect and honesty, you have to communicate openly and be prepared to give honesty and respect. It was a painful lesson, and I have no intention of repeating it.
